Our story

2024 to now

Our Story

1. 2024

   Second State started as Poplar Records, a student label at UVA, in the fall of 2024.

2. 2025

   That summer Max and his business partner Garrett built the studio in under a month: vocal booth, treated walls, monitors, a drum kit. It opened in August.

3. Now

   Recording, mixing, mastering and release all happen in house, and producers book the room to make their own records.
